Buying methylene blue in the UK, EU, US, Canada, and Australia

Buying methylene blue involves three separate checks: whether the product meets your specification, whether a carrier serves your address, and whether that particular product can enter your country for its intended use. An available shipping option answers only the second question.
This matters because searches for “methylene blue near me” can return laboratory reagents, aquarium treatments, prepared solutions, and prescription medicines together. The shared chemical name does not make those products interchangeable. Start with the use and formulation you need, then compare suppliers within that category.
What Blupreme currently lists
The Blupreme catalog lists a 100 mL aqueous solution and powder in several pack sizes. The current solution page describes a 1% preparation made with USP-grade methylene blue and purified water. It also advertises worldwide shipping. Those are product and delivery statements, not evidence of a medicinal authorization in every destination.
The shipping policy, updated 27 August 2026, makes service availability dependent on country, postcode, parcel weight, and carrier coverage. It gives typical estimates of 3 to 4 days within the EU and approximately 5 to 10 days outside it, without guaranteeing arrival dates. The actual service and charge appear at checkout.
For a specific order, therefore, use the complete destination address. The public policy does not contain an exhaustive country-by-country service list, and the matrix below does not claim that an address-level quotation has been tested.
Shipping and product checks by market
Verification date: 12 September 2026. “Address check required” means the published policy leaves service confirmation to checkout. The restrictions concern medicinal supply or import pathways; they are not blanket classifications of all laboratory or aquarium products containing the dye.
| Destination | Blupreme delivery confirmation | Verified product or import distinction | Action before ordering |
|---|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | Address check required | Personal medicinal imports have a licensing exemption described by the UK government; this does not establish product approval or authorize commercial supply. | Identify the exact product and purpose. For treatment, use a pharmacist or prescriber to resolve supply requirements. |
| European Union | Address check required | Prescription Proveblue injection has EU authorization. Online medicinal retail conditions remain country-specific. | Check the destination member state's rules and the authorized seller's national register entry. |
| United States | Address check required | FDA generally prohibits personal importation of unapproved drugs; discretionary exceptions do not create a right to import. | Resolve the product's US status before relying on an overseas checkout. |
| Canada | Address check required | Health Canada distinguishes OTC products from prescription drugs and residents from visitors. Residents generally cannot import prescription drugs by mail or courier. | Verify the actual product classification and applicable personal or commercial route. |
| Australia | Address check required | The Personal Importation Scheme has quantity, identification, and other conditions. Prescription-only medicines require valid Australian authority at importation. | Check the exact formulation and current requirements before dispatch; assess unregistered oral products separately. |
United Kingdom: distinguish personal import from medicine approval
A June 2026 government answer on overseas medicine purchases explains that the medicinal import licensing requirement has an exemption for administration to the importer or a member of their household. That narrow distinction matters: an individual purchase and a business bringing products in for onward supply are different transactions.
It does not follow that every imported preparation is approved for the buyer's proposed use. The manufacturer's UK information identifies Proveblue 5 mg/mL injection as a prescription-only medicine. A retail bottle described as USP grade is not that presentation merely because both contain methylthioninium chloride.
Do not apply old EU-logo advice uniformly to the UK. The same government answer distinguishes Great Britain from Northern Ireland's online medicine seller requirements.
European Union: choose the member state, not just “Europe”
The EMA's Proveblue assessment describes an authorized prescription injection for medicine- or chemical-induced methaemoglobinaemia, administered by a healthcare professional. That authorization is specific to the medicinal product and conditions of use.
Online purchasing adds another layer. The European Commission's explanation of the common pharmacy logo states that member states determine retail supply conditions and may restrict online prescription medicine sales. Click the logo to verify the seller's entry on the relevant national authority's website. A copied logo image is insufficient.
For procurement, record the destination country explicitly. “EU delivery” is a transport description, not a complete regulatory assessment.
United States: a personal order is not automatically exempt
The FDA's personal importation policy says that individuals generally cannot import unapproved drugs for personal use. Approval in another country does not confer US approval.
FDA describes circumstances in which enforcement discretion may be considered, including particular serious-condition situations. This is not a general permission for any small parcel or a guarantee that a three-month quantity will be admitted. A seller accepting payment cannot make that determination for the agency.
Laboratory procurement requires its own accurate product description and intended use. Do not describe a therapeutic purchase as research material to fit a different import category.
Canada: check classification before applying quantity limits
Health Canada's personal-use guidance allows specified personal quantities for several nonprescription product categories but separately restricts prescription-drug imports. Canadian residents generally cannot receive prescription drugs by mail or courier, although the guidance describes specific exceptions and different visitor provisions.
Consequently, “under 90 days” is an incomplete purchasing rule. First determine which category the exact preparation falls into. A medicine available without prescription abroad may require one in Canada. An order for resale also cannot use a personal-use allowance simply because the parcel is small.
Australia: read the scheme and the methylene blue warning together
The TGA's Personal Importation Scheme, updated 8 September 2026, requires compliance with all its conditions. These include a maximum three-month supply per import, identifiable packaging, and no onward supply. Where a medicine is prescription-only in Australia, valid Australian prescription or written authority must exist at the time of importation.
Separately, the TGA's warning about imported unregistered oral methylene blue explains that such products promoted for cognitive, mood, or anti-ageing effects have not been assessed for quality, safety, or efficacy. Import eligibility and therapeutic assessment are distinct questions. Do not infer an approved oral use from an injectable medicine's registration.
Keep one order record
Before payment, save the product name, concentration or powder specification, pack quantity, intended use, destination, and quoted shipping service together. Add the relevant product documents and the basis for the import route. The guide to choosing a methylene blue supplier explains how to assess the supplier alongside those records.
Budget for the landed order, including charges not expressly included at checkout. Blupreme's policy assigns destination import requirements and applicable additional fees to the recipient. Resolve missing documents before dispatch: a parcel already in transit is a poor place to discover that the purchase and its intended use were never checked together.
